I absolutely love your blog. Soy filipina pero nunca he ido a Palawan.

I envy you two your trip. I hope I can make the same trip someday (given that I already have enough savings..jejeje). I look forward to reading the entries about the other countries. :)

You see, in celdrantours the blog owner (obviously) lives in Manila and gives tours around Manila. He's passionate about his city. When your heart is attached to the city you live and someone gives negative comments about that city, naturally that person will react; and so he reacted, in his own way, what you and others perceived about some aspects of Manila. He mentioned that perhaps old money in Manila, the rich, might want to consider doing something about the less appealing aspects of Manila. He particularly underlines the notion that often visitors and tourists draw conclusions about the Philippines through Manila; of course, this notion is valid, because Manila is not only the capital city, it is, I believe, also the ultimate place where many critical elements collide that form and shape Filipino identity. But you two are obviously not what I'd call 'conventional' tourists; although to many, your sharper reactions to the things you had seen in Manila can often be perceived as those from disrespectful, impatient tourists. It's particularly amazing the contrasts you had seen, especially between Manila and the less inhabited islands, urban versus rural, or perhaps hell versus heaven. (I say hell because many of the Philippine's best movie directors have painted their versions of hell as Manila). But then one almost always finds the good things in a place when the place is quiet, when the population is less dense, when the hospitality is as warm and sweet as the images you saw in Donsol or Palawan. The interesting part I guess, at this point, is how these contrasts play in your perceptions about the Philippines and Filipinos, in your brief encounter with the island; (that that must be a very interesting perspective from a South American European or South American with a European perspective.)
